The 8th Street Experience

As one of the most iconic thoroughfares in Greenwich Village, 8th street is home to rich history, unique merchants, and exciting events.

As one of the most iconic thoroughfares in Greenwich Village, 8th street is home to rich history, unique merchants, and exciting events. From luxury shops to small cafes, visiting 8th street is sure to be a delight for everyone. And while you’re there, enjoy knowing that you are walking down the same block that legends such as Jackson Pollock did many years ago. That is why we are so thrilled to be sharing the 8th Street Experience with the entire Village community.

The 8th Street Experience is a celebration of the eclectic shops, restaurants, bars & people of this vibrant, colorful Greenwich Village area. There’s always a storefront open for every kind of shopper. The luxurious buyer will find Atelier to be the boutique of their dreams, while the students in the community will be eager to visit Goods For The Study.

When night falls 8th street continues to be filled with excitement, thanks to fine dining establishments such as Mace and classic bars like the Arts & Crafts Beer Parlor. Boredom is hard to find on this boulevard.

Beyond being just an entertaining area, 8th street is home to a rich tapestry of musical history. Through the Electric Lady Studios, stars such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Nicks, and more have strolled through the area on their way to recording their hit albums. Through one of our self-guided tours down 8th Street you can see this history and more up close. 8th street is the perfect jumping off point for learning more about Greenwich Village history. Start your education here, with an introduction to our neighborhood’s past.

As part of the official launching of The 8th Street Experience we are thrilled to be bringing a community event to 8th Street on September 18th. Mark your calendars now for a day of music, vendors, fun with your neighbors and more! From 1pm to 6pm sections of 8th street and the surrounding neighborhood will be closed off to be used as public spaces. Visit to take advantage of the open streets, or to check out local merchants, including Village Access businesses. The day will be headlined by music from David Amran, a collaborator of Jack Kerouac, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and others. We promise a visit to 8th Street will be an experience you’ll never forget.
