The 2024 Washington Square Park Dog Costume Contest & Parade

Whether you’re bringing a dressed-up pooch or just in it for the cuteness, mark your calendar for October 26. We put together all you need to know—and a gallery of past pups who won the show (though in our minds, they’re all winners).

The Washington Square Park Conservancy invites you to “join hundreds of creative pups and their humans for an afternoon of spooky fun.” The event runs on Saturday, October 26th at Washington Square Park.

“From decked-out doodles to costumed corgies, this event is must-see. The event kicks off at 11am with an open-to-all parade around the park, followed at 12:30pm by an incredible contest as registered four-legged friends strut their stuff in hilarious, adorable, and downright impressive costumes.”

“We hope to see everyone there—and can’t wait to see what costumes people come up with this year!” says Grace Harman, Community Relations Director of the Washington Square Park Conservancy, the nonprofit organization helping to keep Washington Square Park clean, safe and beautiful. The Conservancy is proudly hosting this year’s event.

This event is free, and open to the public. The parade is open to anyone who comes by to enjoy the festivities, and registration for the costume contest opens at 9am on the day of the event.
