Performed in English and Spanish, this bilingual musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors written by Rebecca Martínez & Julián Mesri “embraces contemporary music styles from Latin America in a tale of separation and reunion. . . . bring[ing] a vibrant energy to an age-old tale of two sets of twins separated by stormy seas as they overcome a baffling case of mistaken identity—and the mayhem and hilarious confusion that follows” (The Public Theater).

From the cast’s vibrant, eye-catching costumes, to the sword fights and song and dance that fill the stage, your eyes are locked on Mobile Unit’s performance for the full run of the show—no easy feat when you’re competing against the animated backdrop of New York City.

We give the entire production and its cast an enthusiastic five stars, and urge our readers to attend this unique event on Astor Place. The show’s program describes a performance as “Filled with hilarious jokes and heartwarming songs,” where “you may find yourselves singing along, tapping your feet, dancing in your chair, and perhaps even shedding a tear.” Spoiler alert: We can confirm all of the above.

If you miss the night of the 23rd, catch the performance outdoors as it tours all five boroughs now through the end of June, from Wolfe’s Pond Park in Staten Island to St. Mary’s Park in The Bronx.
