Golden Swan Garden

Former Site of the Golden Swan Tavern—nicknamed the Hell Hole—a raffish Irish saloon and favorite haunt around 1915 of a young dramatist named Eugene O’Neill.  Years later, O’Neill drew on his memories of the Hell Hole for his characters in The Iceman Cometh.
