Elizabeth Blackwell Residence

Originally born in England, Elizabeth Blackwell was notable for promoting education for women in medicine. Known as the woman to obtain the first medical degree in the United States, Elizabeth Blackwell was also notable for being a social and moral reformer. This building on University Place contained Elizabeth Blackwell’s home and medical office.
