E.B. White Residence

Considered one of the unique remaining blockfronts in the Village, this row of 1830s houses acquired its continuous stucco façade with colorful tile inserts in 1917, when the buildings were remodeled to apartments.  (The giveaway is No. 10, which failed to go along with the scheme.)  From 1930 to 1935 a resident of  No. 16 was the writer E.B. White, best know for his tribute to the city, Here is New York, and his stories for children—especially Charlotte’s Web.
