Bagatelle

From 1952 to 1959, Bagatelle, nicknamed “the Bag,” was a popular lesbian bar with regular visitors author Ann Bannon and writer/activist Audre Lorde. Like many of the lesbian bars at the time, Bagatelle was Mafia-run and frequently raided by the police. Find more at NYC LGBT Historic Sites.
