The Venue
This superb Art Deco tower of 29 stories, designed as an apartment hotel, went up in 1927, and has remained a visual landmark on lower Fifth Avenue and the Square ever since. As early as the 1930s it was the choice of stage and screen stars when staying in the city. Sylvia Sidney, Judith Anderson, Frances Farmer and Xavier Cugat number among the celebrities who made the hotel their New York headquarters. In the 1970s the hotel was converted to cooperative apartments.
