VA: What’s your name, and where do you work?
JS: My name is Jilliene Seymour, and I’m the Co-Owner and General Manager of Core Burn Pilates Greenwich Village.
How long has Core Burn been on Eighth Street?
JS: Core Burn has been open for about 48 hours, and we’re hoping for many more.
And what is Core Burn?
JS: Core Burn is a classical contemporary pilates studio. We specialize in reformer classes, private sessions and group classes.
What classes are you excited about sharing?
JS: Some classes I’m really excited about right now are Core Tower classes. It’s one of my favorite classes to teach. There’s so much room to grow within that class. You can find things that are really specialized to your body, and it’s all about what makes you feel the best. You can play with the springs and the mat and work against the springs to get the correct tension for your individual body.
What excites you most about working in the Village?
JS: I’m so excited to be working in the Village because it’s such a vibrant community. It’s filled with youth, and I think that our niche was begging to be brought there. We’ve already partnered with so many local businesses and I think the excitement surrounding the studio has been great so far. We’re really excited to grow with all of our neighbors.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
JS: A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in Connecticut. I moved to New York to follow a passion for dance, and the pipeline from dance to pilates was very seamless. It was through dance that I really figured out the mind-to-muscle connection and was introduced to pilates at a very young age.
What should the Village know about Core Burn that makes its business and classes unique?
JS: Core Burn really makes its classes unique because we’re all about a small class size. We have a very intimate community. We like to have a relationship with all of our clientele. And also our classes aren’t one size fits all. There’s room to play. Every instructor has their own individuality and personality.
