The Biodesigned Thing

Biodesigners often mirror the forms, processes, and ecosystems of the natural world. The process is called biomimicry. Often, we see biomimetic designs in robotics, swimwear, and aeronautics. As the practice continues to convergently evolve alongside biotechnology, how close will biomimicry come to recreating complex biological systems from scratch? During this session, we will explore current advancements and research in soft robotics and cell biology to determine what the biomimetic designs of the future might look like.
