Greenwich Village Blooms: The Village Alliance Brings Spring to Life
The Village Alliance district is ready for spring with new plantings, seating areas, and the return of the popular Grow NYC Greenmarket at Astor Place.
The Village Alliance district is buzzing with excitement for the start of May. The Village Alliance has been hard at work preparing for the season, and we’re thrilled to announce our latest additions.
New plantings can be found throughout the District in planters at intersections with pedestrian bulb-outs and surrounding Ruth Wittenberg Triangle. Hanging baskets will also return this month bringing an array of vibrant blooms to 8th Street.
As our Clean Team staffs up for the increased traffic in the warmer weather, we’re pleased to welcome back our popular seating areas on the North and South Plazas of Astor Place. The seating is provided and maintained by the Village Alliance and includes tables, chairs, and umbrellas, perfect for enjoying lunch at a nearby eatery or one of the fantastic plaza concessions.
Madman Espresso is the newest addition to Astor Place, having opened its doors just this past January. Come see what all the fuss is about with their famous Italian coffee and delectable pastries. And, of course, Astor Plate is always a crowd favorite with its signature Mud Coffee and mouth-watering panini sandwiches.
We’re thrilled to announce that the GrowNYC Greenmarket will be returning to Astor Place starting June 6th. The Greenmarket will feature local producers all day long on Tuesdays in Astor Place through November, offering a fantastic opportunity to pick up fresh local produce.
The Village Alliance is proud to continue offering these amenities to the community, and we invite you to join us in enjoying all that the Village Alliance district has to offer this spring.
