PLACE
Oscar Wilde Bookshop
The Venue
On November 24, 1967, Craig Rodwell opened the first bookstore dedicated to gay literature. Here, Rodwell also founded the Homophile Youth Movement in Neighborhoods (HYMN), a bookshop-based group that voiced for popular issues such as the end of Mafia and police presence in gay bars. The Oscar Wilde Bookshop then later moved to 15 Christopher Street, just store away from the Stonewall Inn.
