The Freewheelin’ 60s

Step back in time by visiting famous locations from the freewheelin’ 60s!

The Village has long been associated with a free and open bohemian lifestyle, but during the radical counterculture movement of the 1960s the area was flooded by activists and political reformers. Music rang high with rock & roll and folk music becoming the anthem for a generation. Waves were made across the country and the Village was no exception. In just one decade the neighborhood helped launch the careers of Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand and more.

Start off on Bleecker Street at The Bitter End, the oldest rock & roll club in the city, and wind your way through the Village with some of the famous clubs and iconic backdrops of 1960s music legends.
