The Village is known for its bohemian past, and much of it can be found on display in the many vintage clothing stores, thrift shops and second-hand record stores found throughout the neighborhood. So why not make a day of it? Start with brunch at Tertulia, once frequented by Willa Cather and home to the Red Head speakeasy, later the 21 Club. Next check out the fixtures and products at C. O. Bigelow's, the oldest apothecary in the United States. Work your way east along fabled 8th Street taking in the sights and shops along the way. End at the St. Marks Ale House, once the East Village's legendary Five Spot, for a well-deserved meal.
