Portrait of the Artist

Experience the bohemian days of Greenwich Village with this walking tour of famous artist hotspots.

Painters, sculptors, photographers, and more have found inspiration in the Village for years. Their presence has made the neighborhood name synonymous with art. Whether they called it home or just set up a studio you can wander through centuries of artists and their work.

Stat off on Carmine Street to see artist Jackson Pollock’s former residence. Head west and visit the homes and studios of Civil War photographer Matthew Brady, Edward Hopper, and Jackson Pollock. Finish up on W. 8th Street at the New York Studio School which was once home to the Whitney Museum. End your day on 10th Street at Renwick Triangle to see where Washington Square Arch architect Stanford White once lived.
