Hao Noodle

South of the Clouds has received impressive reviews from the New York Times, New York Magazine, Eater and many more. The menu primarily features classic Yunnan Rice Noodle in a modern setting.

In their menu, you can find a heartwarming story.  “Once upon a time, there was a scholar who was studying hard for his imperial exams on a small island of Yunnan. The scholar's wife brought him soup every day, but by the time she crossed the bridge it was cold. Then she started spooning a layer of oil on top that would act as insulation and keep the broth warm and carrying the other ingredients separately so they wouldn't get soggy.

The husband ate this every day and eventually, the scholar succeeded in passing the imperial exams and remembering his wife's great kindness and hospitality. Great honor and satisfaction were brought to the village. “

Rasa 

25 West 8th Street

Rasa features a Malaysian-inspired menu as well as dishes influenced by the rich culinary heritage of South East Asia. It's head chef, Tommy Lai, is the first-ever Malaysian toque to earn a Michelin star in New York.

Rasa is named after a small village one hour north of Kuala Lumpur where siblings Tommy Lai and Camie Lai grew up in an impoverished environment. Showered with love and affection by their parents, they learned their mother’s legendary Malaysian street food, or choo-char recipes in the village whose name also means taste in Malay. Today in a different Village many thousands of miles from Rasa, culturally and in distance, Tommy & Camie continue to create some of the best Malaysian food in New York City, staying true to the choo-char techniques their mother taught them in Rasa.

If you're look for authentic but different Chinese cuisine, this frenetic favorite of Village locals will not disappoint! Featuring a menu that is anything but mainstream, the restaurant specializes in hearty Chinese soups and broths. 

Brawny noodle soups in giant steaming bowls are the draw but if trawling through dense soup sounds too labor-intensive for you, Cantonese sliced roasted meats, another house specialty makes a great alternative!

Lao Ma Spicy

A Chinese hot-pot and dry-pot specialist, the first Manhattan spin off of Laoma Malatang located in the food courts of Flushing, Queens.

The basic procedure is to build your meal from a seemingly endless array of proteins and vegetables, have it stir-fried to order and served in an oversized wooden salad bowl.

Kubeh

Kubeh have created a special Lunar New Year menu featuring Kubeh dumplings filled with edamame, ginger and cilantro, garlic Persian cucumber salad, vegetable lo mein, chicken with garlic, sweet duck breast, and sesame rice balls filled with fig jam and more.

Named for its specialty, an Iraqi/Kurdish dumpling served in broth, this Village eatery from a husband and wife team offers a menu that also includes kibbeh, Persian rice (tahdiq) sandwiches and meze.

Beverage options include a signature cocktail list, beer, wine, homemade iced teas and Turkish coffee.
