Fourteen Favorite Valentines Spots!

Cupid's on his way which means it's time for Valentines planning! Of course, we have a year round love affair with the Village and everything that's here, so we've curated our fourteen favorite things to do in the Village with your sweetheart, from Michelin-starred dining to delectable bars, to the most romantic bench in the Village from which to simply stargaze and dream with your Valentine.

We all have our favorite park, and within our favorite park we all have our favorite bench! One of our favorite benches is in Washington Square Park just to the south east of the arch. At night you bask in the soft glow the Arch lighting, and look south down Thompson Street taking in the sparkling lights of another vibrant Greenwich Village night, while in the far distance the Freedom Tower stands magestically, lights shimmering in the night sky. The bench is probably one of the most romantic spots in town, and at least one couple have started their journey there. Will you?

Olio e Piu -  Inspired by the warmth and comfort of the Tuscan countryside, Olio e Piu and Chef Dominick Pepe bring tradition and authentic Italian cuisine to the Village with a vibrant collection of wines and cocktails to pair with your dish. An expertly crafted wood-fired oven crackles and glows, cooking house-made dough into perfect, crisp Neapolitan-style pizza while creating an inviting atmosphere.

Greenwich Project - Chef Carmine Di Giovanni cooks up inspirational fare that is both classic and whimsical, with flavors from France, the Mediterranean and, of course, America.  A hand-picked wine and spirit list and a robust cocktail program by The Project Group’s top mixologists enhance the restaurant’s cuisine, creating a thoughtful and satiating dining experience for each and every guest.

Cornelia Street Cafe - Serving up music, prose and performing arts alongside one of the best dinner and drinks menus in the Village. A true local icon!

Loring Place - Legendary chef Dan Kluger creates delicious market-driven dishes, with unexpected but incredibly pleasing flavor combinations. The menu, comprises of small and large shareable plates, spotlighting farms and farmers whom Kluger has gotten to know intimately over 20+ years of frequenting the Union Square Greenmarket.

IL Bambino - Experience their passion for hand-made meats, cheeses, and fresh bread! They use meats that include prosciutto, such as smoked (speck) and un-smoked (Di Parma); their salumi range from mild to strong, and cheeses are both fresh and aged – all offered with their own selection of flavourful home made condiments. Their Italian ciabattina bread is baked each day, all complimented with a selection of unique wines and beer.

NIX - Michelin-starred chef John Fraser, drawS on his personal passion for cooking with vegetables. With the belief that eating vegetarian or vegan should feel more celebration than sacrifice, Nix features dishes that are seasonal, shareable and highly flavourful. Innovative cocktails, housemade sodas and an affordable, adventurous wine list complete the menu, all served in a lively Greenwich Village atmosphere.

Rasa - Maylasian - On Feb 14th you can get your first cocktail on the house with love from Rasa on West 8th Street, home to some of New York's finest Malaysian cuisine! Created by top chef's and siblings, Tommy Lai and Camie Lai. As well as Camie's very own Cincaluk, menu highlights include Kampung Fried Rice, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Penang Assam Laksa.

The Libary at the Public - Open late nightly for dinner and cocktail service, the hidden away supper club plays dinner bar, watering hole or backstage lounge to downtown denizens and neighborhood dwellers, theater-goers coming or going, academics and artists alike. Chefs Andrew Carmellini and John Ramirez have created an American menu of bar snacks, shareable appetizers, sandwiches, dinner plates and desserts sourcing local ingredients and New York influence that is available in both The Library and Joe's Pub.

Arts & Crafts Beer Parlor - Arts and Crafts Beer Parlor is the antithesis of a sports bar; rather, it is an extension of your living room, a place to entertain guests with quality conversation in a warm atmosphere over a pint of great American Craft Beer or a glass of fine wine. It is a cultural center where the art adorning the walls changes as frequently as the 24 beers on tap.

8th Street Winecellar - A few steps down from a street that once boasted only smoke shops and shoe stores, provides a naturally private hideaway for the warm and intimate atmosphere that lends itself perfectly for a comfortable and cozy spot to enjoy some wonderful boutique wines and small plates of cheeses, meats, oysters, or even pig’s in blankets from the globally inspired menu. Located just below the now bustling 8th street means you can’t drink yourself under the table. Because you’re already under the floor.

Analogue -

Shake things up this Valentine's Day and indulge in an evening of mixology with an expert bartender. This interactive, hands-on cocktail class will be held in The Back Room, featuring a private bar, cozy leather couches, and a masculine yet elegant design setting the mood for cocktails and conversation. You'll both receive instruction on how to make three different cocktails, education on the spirits used, all the the tools & ingredients, along with light bites.

You'll learn to make the West Eighth - a signature house cocktail (Vodka), Hemingway Daiquiri (Rum) and the Paper Plane (Bourbon).

There are still places available for the early bird class starting 6:30pm, tickets are $95 and after February 13, $125.

Amelie - Amelie Wine Bar is a modern wine lounge with French flair. Its dramatic wall of lushly lit wine bottles and soaring wooden wine shelves transport you far from the hubbub of New York City. The wine list is comprised of high quality yet affordable wines from around the world. Half of the list is European with a heavy emphasis on France, with the rest from California, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Chile and Argentina.

Bergen Hill - Internationally-inspired. Seafood. Small Plates. Wine, beer & cocktails. They are also featuring a special Valentines Day tasting menu, for details click here
