Joe’s Pub Launches Artist in Residence Program

New talent is coming to the neighborhood as Joe's Pub launches their first Artists-in-Residence program. The yearlong program hopes to provide emerging artists an enriching environment with easy access to resources, spaces, and community to help them in their creative efforts.

The inaugural group features 5 individuals:

Bridget Barkan: An actor and singer, Barkan has been working in the art industry since she was a child, with appearances in commercials and on the beloved children’s program Sesame Street. On the music front she’s toured the world with the band Scissor Sisters and in 2012 she released her album Dear Stranger. This December Barkan will return to the stage with her show Dirty Laundry.

Ali Grieb: A rising cabaret star, Grieb is known for her energy, storytelling, and big band era vocals. Her most recent show, Sin Stop Here, features funny stories of her life growing up in the South.

Larry Krone: From Baltimore to St. Louis, Krone’s visual art, performance, and design is captivating. His art book, LOOK BOOK showcases sartorial creations.

Danny Lipsitz: A jack of all trades. Lipsitz is a saxophonist with experience playing a variety of genres. With performances in venues across the country, he has released a single “Big Brown House,” and is currently working an album.

Michael Mwenso: Born in Sierra Leone with a talent for singing and the piano, Michael Mwenso’s jazz vocals have given him a unique musical style. Over the years he’s been invited to perform with the likes of Jon Hendricks and Dee Dee Bridgewater and is currently involved in programming at Lincoln Center
