West 10th Street Water Main Project

The City of New York Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is managing a project to upgrade the existing water mains in a variety of locations throughout the city related to construction of the Third Water Tunnel.  In the upcoming motnhs, work will be performed on West 10th Street from West Street to FIfth Avenue (see map below). This project's primary scope of work is the replacement of distribution water mains that are over a century old.

    They have been stuck on this work between 7th ave and Greenwich ave since last May or June of 2014 it is now the end of April 2015 .The street had been dug up and re dug so many times I have lost count . Con ed has had to be here many time for gas leaks in the street and they have had to replace their pipes also because of breakage .Right now the street is being dug up again and pipes are being replaced again.Don't know what the problem is this should have been finished months ago on these two blocks.
