The 2012 Village Halloween Parade Guide

It’s one of the most popular events in New York, and it’s right here in the Village.

The 39th Annual Village Halloween Parade is this Wednesday, and the Village Alliance wants to make sure you don’t get trapped behind a police barricade on the wrong side of the street all night in a last minute costume. Here’s all the information we could gather to ensure you have a scarily fantastic night in the Village:

The parade begins at 7pm and marches from Spring Street to 14th Street along 6th Avenue.

To watch on TV: The parade is broadcast live on WPIX Channel 11 from 7:30pm to 10:00pm and on NY1 from 8pm to 9:30pm.

To watch in person:  Be sure to line up well before the parade starts. Once the police barricades go up, it is difficult to travel within the parade route, so make sure to meet up with your friends before 7pm.

To join in: The costumed revelers line up on 6th Avenue in between Spring and Canal Street from 7pm-9pm. Follow the crowd up 6th Avenue and show off your outrageous getup to the city. Again, the earlier you and your friends arrive the better. If you don’t have a costume, offer to “animate” the parade’s famously giant puppets and you will fit right in.

The Official Parade After Party is at Webster Hall. Tickets are available for $40. There will be amazing DJs, stunning spectacles, and costume prizes all night. The party starts at 8pm and continues all night.

All that’s left to do is to ward off any possible Frankenstorm interferences. Or perhaps all one can do is turn it into a prize-winning costume. In any case: Happy Halloween Villagers!
