The Venue
A private lane paved in Belgian block that runs from University Place to Fifth Avenue. It is lined with 2-story houses—most of which are remodeled stables built between 1833 and 1850. NYU’s La Maison Francaise, Deutsches Haus and Ireland House are all located here.
In the Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron thriller The Astronaut’s Wife—which follows the wife of a NASA officer whose recent mission didn’t go as planned—Theron’s character can be seen running out of Washington Square Park, under the arch, down Fifth Avenue, and past Washington Mews.
