Concert: Alessandra Garosi: Novecento

Date

NOVECENTO is divided in two parts. In the first part, pianist Alessandra Garosi performs music by Frank Zappa, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Giorgio Gaslini and George Gershwin.

In the second part, she is accompanied by a video featuring special unedited images of Nino Rota’s life and music carrier. The program includes extracts of famous soundtracks such as The Godfather, La Strada, Prova d’orchestra, I Vitelloni, 8 1/2, Amarcord and lesser known movies such as Il Treno Popolare, his first soundtrack.

Nino Rota's works became famous all over the world thanks to his successful collaboration with the great Italian director Federico Fellini, helping to give the world an idea of the mood and desires of post-war Italy. The combination of live music together with video clips and images produce a unique show and atmosphere. The video selections from Nino Rota's life and Fellini films are curated by Giovanni Massa (Ferribotte Film, Palermo).
