Positively 8th Street

West 8th Street

The Village Alliance presents the FREE Positively 8th Street Festival, taking place at West 8th Street (Between 5th & 6th Avenues) on THREE summer Saturdays; June 3rd, July 8th and August 5th

Positively 8th Street Festival is a FREE one-day celebration of 8th Street, its rich cultural history, businesses and institutions, featuring live music, food, pop-up gardens, arts, culture and fun for the whole family.

Kick back and enjoy live music, sunshine and alfresco eating on the pop-up West 8th Street Parks each featuring 800 Sq. Ft of live grass grown especially for Positively 8th Street!  The block will also be packed full of bistro style tables chairs to enjoy food from your favorite 8th Street restaurants including, Amelie, La Panineria, EVA’s kitchen and Ancolie, 8th Street’s new epicurean cantine.

Il Bambino, home to New York’s best Crostini and Arts & Crafts Beer Parlor purveyor of the best craft beers in town, will both have dedicated gardens in which to enjoy their delights.

For the creative folks, young and not so young, the Scribble Art Workshop will run children’s art and design workshops while the New York Studio School will host drawing sessions with live models and tours of the famous Whitney Studio. The Storm Ritter Studio will lead the creation of a huge 8th street Community Mural on which festivalgoers can paint their Positively 8th Street vibe! Kids will also enjoy fun games and toys with the New York Parks Department Mobile Recreation van.

Fitness buffs can get a quick fitness fix with free health screenings and blood pressure checks from the Mount Sinai/Beth Israel Medical Center. The NYC Fitness Mobile Unit will be visiting with exercise equipment and instructors for physical activity on the go!

Some of Greenwich Village’s leading institutions, community and advocacy groups including the Jefferson Market Library, Greenwich Village Society for Historical Preservation, The Neighborhood Preservation Center and the Washington Square Park Conservancy will be at the festival with opportunities to engage.
